Residential locksmith in Bristol.
Your home, properly secure.
New home? Worried after a break-in nearby? Looking after a parent? Your front door not locking properly? We’re the Bristol locksmith for all of it. From £80. No call-out fee. No VAT. Same price 24/7.
What kind of home job is it?
Most residential locksmith calls fit one of these patterns. If yours doesn’t — just phone us and tell us what’s happened. We’ll know whether we’re the right people for the job within a couple of minutes.
Just moved into a new home
You don’t know who has keys to your front door — the previous owner, the cleaner, the builder, an old tenant’s ex-partner. We change every external lock on the property to fresh keys, walk you through which doors and windows would benefit from upgrades, and check what your home insurance expects you to have.
Worried after a break-in nearby
One of your neighbours has been hit, the police have leafleted the street, or you’ve seen something on the local Facebook group. We’ll come out and tell you honestly where your home is vulnerable, what an opportunist burglar would target first, and what an upgrade actually costs. The single best upgrade for most UPVC doors is a 3-star anti-snap cylinder.
Looking after an elderly parent
Whether it’s a parent in their own home or a relative moving in with you, the right setup can make a real difference. We fit key safes (the wall-mounted kind for carers and emergency services), easy-turn handles for arthritic hands, spy holes so they can see who’s at the door without opening it, and door chains for an extra layer of safety against doorstep scammers.
Your door’s not locking properly
Sticky lock, key won’t turn, handle has gone floppy, UPVC door has dropped, multi-point mechanism feels gritty. Most of these get worse over weeks until the door won’t shut at all — usually on a Sunday evening. Call us before that point. We carry common parts on the van and finish most repairs on the first visit.

Small fittings that make a real difference
Most home break-ins are stopped by a series of small things, not one big one. Our van carries the full secondary security kit, so we can add these on the spot when we’re already on site for a bigger job:
- Door security chains — answer the door safely without opening it fully
- Door viewers (peepholes) — see who’s outside before you decide to open up
- Mortice security bolts — backup locking points on wooden doors
- Surface-mounted door bolts — top and bottom rack bolts for extra hold
- Anti-lift sliding patio door locks — stop the door being lifted off its track
- Door restrictors — open the door safely for a delivery without losing control
- Key safes — wall-mounted, code-locked, for spare keys and carers
Most of these are £30–£60 supplied and fitted. Combined with a bigger job, they’re often the most cost-effective security improvements you’ll ever make.

What Bristol homeowners ask before they book
How quickly can you get to me?
From our Bristol base we’re typically with you in 20–30 minutes across inner Bristol (Clifton, Bedminster, Bishopston, Easton, Cotham) and 30–40 minutes for outer areas and South Gloucestershire towns. We give you an honest ETA on the call before we set off.
I’ve just moved in. Should I change all the locks?
Almost always, yes. You have no way of knowing who has copies of the old keys — previous owners, cleaners, builders, ex-partners. Most home insurance policies actually require a lock change between owners. We typically change the front door and back door cylinders, check any side gate or garage locks, and walk you through which doors and windows would benefit from upgrades. Budget around £160–£220 for the standard package on most Bristol homes.
What does my home insurance actually require?
Most UK home insurance policies require all external door locks to meet British Standard BS 3621. For UPVC doors that usually means a 5-lever mortice lock or a multi-point locking system with a TS007 1-star or higher cylinder. For wooden doors it usually means a 5-lever mortice deadlock. If your locks don’t meet the standard and you’re burgled, your insurer may pay a reduced claim or refuse it entirely. We’ll check this for you on arrival, no obligation.
Do you fit key safes for carers or elderly relatives?
Yes — this is one of the most useful single fittings we install. We supply police-rated, code-locked wall safes that hold a spare key for carers, family members, or emergency services to access without the homeowner having to get to the door. The combination can be changed at any time. Around £65 supplied and fitted in one visit.
Can you fit secondary security on a job you’re already doing?
Yes — door chains, viewers, mortice bolts, patio door locks and restrictors are all stocked on the van. If we’re already on site for a lock change or repair, adding secondary security is much cheaper than a separate call-out. Most fittings are £30–£60 supplied and fitted.
My UPVC door is hard to lock. Does it need replacing?
Usually not — UPVC doors often just need adjusting. Over time, the door drops on its hinges, the multi-point mechanism wears, and the door no longer aligns properly with the frame. We can usually fix this by adjusting the hinges, replacing worn parts of the mechanism, or fitting a new gearbox. A full replacement is rarely needed unless the door itself is physically damaged.
Do you cover my postcode?
We cover all Bristol BS postcodes (BS1–BS49) plus parts of South Gloucestershire (GL12), Bath & North East Somerset (BA1–BA15) and North Somerset. We also reach Gloucester, Chepstow, Chippenham, Trowbridge and Weston-super-Mare. If you’re unsure, phone us — we’ll tell you straight whether we can help.
